I can't really explain why I love this book so much. There's something about it though that makes me feel happy and safe, and it's kind of my go-to book whenever I'm stressed or aimlessly sad/upset.

It's kind of just a quiet little story about hidden depths and seeing new things in ordinary lives and growing up and finding out about who you are and how everyone has a story and the way lives intersect with each other. And it all feels so real. The wry observations and feelings and characters and little details, something about them all rings true. For me, reading this book is like visiting old friends (as cliche as that is), and it always manages to make me feel a little less cruddy about life, like new, interesting experiences are right around the corner, and everything's going to be okay.

So yeah. I can understand why other people wouldn't care for it. But it's personally one of my favorite books in the whole world, and I'm glad it exists.
