The Christmas Train by David Baldacci

3.0

Anyone else feeling nostalgic about train travels? Granted, the only time this girl ever traveled via a train was as a little girl going cross country in Poland or China.... and I feel as though those are somewhat different than the Amtrak travels Tom Langdon encounters.

David Baldacci does a wonderful job of establishing the groundwork of the various characters of the inhabitants of the Chief train and that's really it. I am not a romantic, despite my love of Jane Austen and do not believe in the whole magic of Christmas "Hallmark-esque" love stories. Gag. My favorite moments of this story really had to do with the temporary inhabitants of the train and their background stories (well.... up until the ending). And funny story... this novel was eventually adapted into a Hallmark Christmas story. Oh, the funny.

Overall, a quick and lovely holiday story to read around the holidays yet nothing that was particularly special. If only I had actually read and finished it around the holiday season.
