Steal Like an Artist: 10 Things Nobody Told You about Being Creative by Austin Kleon

5.0

Steal like an Artist is a tiny guide to creativity and boasting, 10 Things Nobody Told You About Being Creative.
For some this book might feel redundant as most motivational advice has been said before, but I really enjoyed this book. I think the key thing is that you have to know what you are looking for when you pick up a book like this. I wanted something that would motivate me each time that I flip through it, and remind me of the things I know, but forget when depression rears it's ugly head. It's incredibly hard to remember why life is worth living with severe depression, let alone why creating things is important, and a tiny gold mine like this perks me up and plops me back on the right course. That is worth for more than I paid for this.
Even if most of this information wasn't mind blowing.
That being said, there was a hell of a lot more to this than I thought there would be, and several of the ideas really hit home and have continued rattling around in my brain, weeks after I read this.
It also contains some lovely full page quotes and pictures that help to break up the tidbits of wisdom.
I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys making things, as well as for anyone who struggles with maintaining their optimism or motivation. This is a gem.
