The Woman in Me by Britney Spears

3.5

The Woman in Me is a memoir detailing Britney Spears life, from her young, impoverished childhood to her work as a singer and actress, to her complicated and abusive family dynamics.  She details her conservatorship, heartbreak, and other hardships that she endured throughout her career.

I'm not a huge Britney Spears fan, but I still found it interesting to hear about the milestones throughout her life and career and get look into how she has perceived moments of her life that got absurd, abusive amounts of attention from American media.

As a note, the audiobook is not read by Spears herself, with the exception of the prologue. I probably would have stuck with the printed version if I had realized that beforehand. Because I listened instead of read, I don't have great insight into the writing style, but Spears communicates clearly. She also maintains a charming tone of humility and gratitude.
