This is a re read and as with the previous books I love them even more this time around.
I have been reading the paperback alongside listening to the graphic audio, and I highly recommend listening to the graphic audio, I adore these books no matter what but graphic audio just elevates the reading experience.
This book is filled with so much action, plot and story, however it goes by so fast and is so easy to read, it produces a desperation to find out what happened next and I could not put it down, There was so much I had forgotten since reading it previously that it was a brilliant experience revisiting this world. However I had forgotten some of the sadder moments which made me sob, especially whilst listening to the audible!
Sarah J Maas has the ability to draw you into the intricacies of this world and these characters, enabling you to feel entwined with their lives, experiencing their feelings right alongside them. I really enjoy all the relationships, whether it be as fated mates or friends, the friendship and banter is some of my favourite I have ever read, and I enjoy the addition of more people into the inner circle and how they all adapt to this as well as embracing them.
This story brings the conclusion for Pyrthians battle with Hybern, and all that brings. There is so much heartbreak within this, I love that the ‘‘bad guys’ such as The Bone Carver, The Suriel, Bryaxis and the Weaver all come to the support of Feyre, showing how important and pivotal she is within their world.
Whilst this world is complex and there are multiple different characters and cultures I did not find it complicated to keep up with, the world building is done so well that you understand what is going on without feeling spoon felt information.
There are so many moments within this book that are so sad, its a constant rollercoaster of emotions.
I feel so sorry for Lucien, whilst Elain has not formally rejected the mating bond she has not welcomed it and following the rejection of his family I do not feel he deserves the rejection of Elain also, I really hope that Lucien does get a happy ending. I see lots of parallels with Kingdom of Ash and between the characters, I know it is all within the same world but I do wonder if they are the same timeline, to me TOG feels much older.
I cannot recommend these books highly enough, they are full of everything I love and more!
