Emails from Keats: The laugh-out-loud mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end - longlisted for the Bridport Prize 2024 by Zoe McCann
5.0
First off, thank you, Zoe McCann, for sending me this paperback! Incredibly kind - however, these thoughts are my own.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emails from Keats by Zoe McCann is a riotously funny, heartwarming mystery that’s perfect for anyone craving a book full of laughs and heart!
Imagine this: Aoife Lockhart is grieving her dad’s sudden death (and the adult acne that decided to sprinkle her face) when, out of the blue, she starts getting emails from…John Keats. Yep, *the* long-dead Romantic poet, who somehow now has a Gmail account and way too much wisdom to share. This bizarre twist is just what Aoife needs as she digs into her dad’s mysterious past and comes to terms with her grief.
The characters? Total gems. Each one adds hilarity, depth, and warmth (and a dash of stress) to Aoife’s life, her mum reminding her—and us—that "ladies don't get mugged off, get cheesed off."
They make the mystery feel both poignant and laugh-out-loud funny, and by the end, you’ll be rooting for every last one of them.
McCann’s storytelling is charming and witty, giving us a novel that’s both laugh-inducing and tear-jerking. If you’re looking for a unique story with humour, mystery, and a lot of heart, Emails from Keats is a must-read.
