I read this book slowly over a year. I found Dos’ journey through emotion, compulsion, certainty and doubt to be exhilarating and exhausting. The father and eldest son’s experiences of life were torture. Ivan and Alyosha barely better. Extreme book to write at the end of a life. Interesting book to read in the middle.
