The Wrong Guy by Lauren Landish, Lauren Landish

funny lighthearted slow-paced

4.5

This was a fun book that felt a little less like a romance than a story about saving the town of Cold Springs from Jed Ford, again. Because of the focus on the divorce, it gave the plot a unique spin on the friends with benefits trope.

I loved Wren and Jesse. They were both so hung up on each other and their miscommunication led them to doubt they were enough for each other. I loved that both these successful, confident people could be so conflicted about their value. Wren was the city attorney and had made a name for herself in a male dominated career, but she was under the impression that she was “too much”. While Jesse, who grew up in a blue collar family and worked a blue collar job, felt like he wasn’t enough. I loved the juxtaposed of that. And I loved their continued support for each other.

There was plenty of humor in this book, I thought the first book had a little more humor, but this was still a great romcom. It was sweet and funny with a good sense of small town camaraderie. I loved how Jesse and Wren loved each other and how after they resolved the miscommunication they accepted each other and never doubted their feelings. Despite the miscommunication, they communicated very well after they finally got together.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good escape. It kept me interested and was one of those books that just makes you feel good. I loved the ending and thought it was well thought out. Jed finally got what was coming to him and I loved the way the take down came about!
