Scorpio Hates Virgo by Anyta Sunday

Scorpio Hates Virgo‘s synopsis sounds like an enemies to lovers story, but it really wasn’t. It was more like ‘pretend enemies admit their deep love for each other’, which ended up being really cute for me. I loved how snarky Percy and Cal were with each other, and I especially loved their fake annoyance. I mean, they actually used the word ‘nemesis’, which to me implies more of a frenemy.

I especially thought it was sweet how Cal tried to hide his obvious need to take care of and protect Percy. It drove him nuts when Percy would talk about how everyone leaves him, and how he wasn’t ‘family material’. I’m not sure if everyone picked up on it, but I thought it was blatantly obvious Cal wanted to be Percy’s family. I even think Percy wasn’t clueless and had a feeling Cal reciprocated his feelings, but he was too afraid to allow himself to trust it. This is another recipe that could have played out in a very angsty way, but it didn’t. Once again you had two men who listened to each other, or were patient. Willing to wait, and not pushing. It’s so freaking sweet.

In Leo Loves Aries I was drawn to Theo, because he’s so vibrant and funny, but in Scorpio Hates Virgo I was actually more drawn to Cal, for opposite reasons. I loved how steady he was. I loved his T-Rex t-shirts and how wonderful he was with his baby sisters. I loved his commitment to his mother, and how important it was to him that Percy trust him. He was constant. He made consistency sexy.

I also loved the Sherlock Gnomes game! Man, what I wouldn’t give to live in a community with that level of love and support. I was prepared to be so upset at Percy, but in the end I understood him. He understood himself. We got a HEA.

The only reason this isn’t a 5 star read is because it didn’t hit me with the same impact Leo Loves Aries did. It was still the perfect past time and I still read it in one evening.
