The Descent of Man had the potential to be an inspiring and insightful read on gender issues however I found it lacked analysis and a deeper understanding of the topics addressed. Slightly repetitive and shallow, Perry presents more of a personal theory and mussing around masculinity and feminism than the comprehensive and researched piece I was hoping for. I found it interesting, somewhat charming, and at times agreed strongly with what Perry has to say, but on a whole the book felt like it lacked substance to me.
Graphic: Sexism
Moderate: Misogyny and Violence
Minor: Sexual content
