The Boyfriend App really takes a while to get to its premise. When it does, it happens very suddenly and changes the tone of the book. It goes from a normal coming-of-age story, with all it's assorted dramas, to a dystopian sci-fi with mind-control and an . I didn't hate it, but it was a really big shift for one book to take nearly mid-way through.
