The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

I would have wanted to read this book even if it didn’t come so highly recommended. First off, the title itself is captivating and draws you in. Second, I read ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’ a few years back and absolutely loved it, so I was eager to read more of her writing. Once again, I wasn’t disappointed!
If I didn’t already know that the book was sapphic, it would have come across as such a surprise that out of Evelyn’s seven husbands, the true love of her life was a woman. I felt like the book not only had an intriguing and captivating plot and well-fleshed characters, but it also introduced important dialogues and points, like Evelyn talking about how she was not gay or straight, how she would not confine her sexuality into a box to make others comfortable. It was simultaneously heartbreaking and healing, a true masterpiece.
I’ll leave this review with: And to anyone tempted to kiss the TV tonight, please don’t chip your tooth.
