The Lion's Game by Nelson DeMille
4.0
This book is about a former NY homicide detective, John Corey, who now works as a Special Contract Agent with the Anti Terrorist Task Force (ATTF). On April 15, he is on his way to JFK to receive a surrendered Libyan terrorist, Asad Khalil. Khalil is on Trans Continental flight 175 from Paris. John, Kate Mayfield, FBI agent and Ted Nash, CIA agent are to transport Khalil to Federal Plaza. Mysteriously, flight 175 lost radio contact in the last two hours of its flight. It is on auto pilot and lands without incident. All the passengers and crew on board are dead and Khalil is nowhere to be found.
As the plot progresses, you find out the real motive for Khalil to travel to the US. Also, the date, April 15, of his arrival has significance for Khalil.
In my opinion, the book is quite interesting. One can tell that DeMille did a lot of historical research to use it as the foundation for the plot. DeMille does a great job of developing John Corey's character, a person you love to hate but has great instincts. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good mystery and thriller.
