American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins

I liked the book more than I expected. It was fast-paced and vivid, however not easy to read at parts. Trigger warning - rape.
I did get a little nudge while reading - how accurate is it? What's the authors connection and motivation? After finishing the read I did a little research and apparently there are many Mexicans who are not happy with the author and the book itself. Not because of harshness but of the lack of authenticity. Still, if you are not bothered by author being an "outsider" and the possibility of stereotypes woven into the plot, it is probably not a bad read for both thriller lovers and Hosseini fans.
