I have never read a book where I can mentally empathize  with a character so much. This book openly deals with mental health, immigration, the dichotomy of identifying with an ethnic group/culture but not being accepted in that ethnic group/culture. So many important things happen in this book. It represents Chinese immigrants and Canada in a really positive way. However this does deal with identity and mental health and can be quite heavy at some times.
