Royal Blood by Ellen Schreiber

3.0

Raven is now back in Dullsville and another year in high school is about to begin. Raven is hardly looking forward to going back to school. Not only will she end up seeing her beloved vampire Alexander less, she will have to do homework and see her nemesis Trevor. One day, an unexpected letter arrives for Alexander announcing his parents' arrival to Dullsville. Raven cannot wait to meet her boyfriend's parents and hopes that they would approve of her - a mortal teenaged girl, a commoner, dating their son - vampire royalty. Meanwhile, Alexander seems on edge.
When Mr. and Mrs. Sterling do arrive, it appears as if everyone else in town has gotten a sighting of them... everyone except Raven. It appears as if Alexander is hiding his parents from her. Raven nothing more than to know why? Is it because they do not approve? Or is Alexander hiding something else from her. Raven will have to do what she does best and find out what is going on in the mansion at Benson Hill.
Royal Blood is the sixth book (of nine books altogether) in the Vampire Kisses series. This book reprises the formula of the other books. Vampires arrive and Raven investigates. There is something a bit anticlimactic about every ending. However, I don't really mind. By now, I know what to expect. I do not expect a bunch of action and explosions, and that is okay. I do expect that Raven will still contemplate the pros and cons of being a vampire. She'll keep telling Alexander to turn her, and then she'll think differently when she remembers about her life as a mortal.
Will Raven ever become a vampire? It seems like the only logical conclusion that Raven will end up as a vampire at the end of the series. After all, she has stated many (so many) times that she cannot live without Alexander, and he cannot live without her. It is doubtful that Alexander will become mortal.
And so, although I can guess what will happen three books from now, I am still excited to see where the series will go, the new characters who will pop up in Dullsville. Hopefully, there will be another trip to Hipsterville in the near future with a bit more of Aunt Libby.
If you liked the other books in the series, then you'll like this one.
