Where'd You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

4.0

Highly enjoyable! I like the way that this book starts out as a quirky domestic satire but each additional part reveals more layers and the story transforms into a crazy and complicated ride as a result. The presentation of the action through various forms of correspondence is a fun way to directly introduce the characters and see events from multiple perspectives. I love how multifaceted Bernadette becomes throughout the book as I learned more about her and how pivotal her relationship with Bee is, especially by the end. Thanks to this book, my childhood curiosity with Antarctica has been reignited and I would love to visit Seattle someday to see if the multiple gripes about the city within these pages are true! Reread in 2019.
