Dangerous Discoveries by Nikita Parmenter

I have to say I'm disappointed I love, love Parmenter's Home series and the first two books of this series. They're something different, a different take and fairly interesting. I had been waiting and waiting for this release but it just fell flat...

Now I understand the author had a bunch of personal shit going on in her life and so it was a struggle to release this book however, I would have happily waited another 2 to 3 months for the final book to hit the marks the first two did and now I'm scared for book 3 in the Home series.

I can normally overlook minor grammar and punctuation errors etc. However, when they're on almost every page, words missing, wrong words put in place of others, sentences completely not making sense even after 3 attempts it's quite frustrating.

I felt a lot of the "speech" throughout the book was unrealistic and forced not many people say "thus" and "it is" (instead of its) or other formal speech. A lot of it would have been better as inner thoughts but that would have left the dialogue missing so it seemed like filler content.

In terms of actual content. Not much happened in this book at all. They passed through a portal travelled for a few days - had one fight - a few make out sessions and then the final "big lead up scene" there was barely a confrontation at all it was in and out in three point two seconds. For a mission that left dozens of highly trained personnel dead a bunch of complete novices got in and out with literally no hitch...

I know that the author is planning this as a similar structure to a TV series but even then if I considered this "Season 1 finale" I'd be disappointed. I just ordered the paperbacks of the first two books of Home and now I'm grateful I didn't add these to my cart because this book had I received it in paperback as is I'd of been pissed which makes me nervous for Twisted Compications...
