The Inhabited Woman by Gioconda Belli

5.0

Holyyyyy that was captivating, inspiring, honest, and overall *chefs kiss*.
I mean so much was said about:
- a search for community within politics (I felt Lavinia was so much more impassioned by her personal encounters with others than the foundation and principals of the movement)
-privilege as a tool in liberation movements being alienating, but most helpful in this form (Her class and position helps the movement so much but it upsets her on some level because it distances her from her companeros considerably).
- masculinity, femininity, the woman as an oasis motif, internalized misogyny
- history as nonlinear, our ancestors and predecessors as intertwined with our present self and inseparable
Ugh so riveting!!! So well written (and I assume translated)!! Would easily read again
