Cover Him with Darkness: A Romance by Janine Ashbless

4.0

I did enjoy this book though it wasn't quite what I had expected. It wasn't very clear whether it was a contemporary or historical fiction story. The book takes place mostly in Eastern Europe in modern times. The main character Milja is the youngest member of a family who has been guarding a secret in a mountain. Her father is an orthodox priest and his duty is to guard a creature who is tied to a stone slab and has been for as long as can be rememebered. When Milja is an adult dire circumstances take her back to her home that she had basically been banished from.

She has spent years falling in love with this creature whom she has cared for and pitied. She frees this creature not knowing that she is releasing a fallen angel and that there are those who will do anything to rid him from the earth.

More of a romance than scifi/fantasy. Interesting storyline and would read more this turns into a series.
