A clear 5/5: First-hand account of life in an extermination camp during the Holocaust. The book doesn’t try to be philosophical or even poetic yet each line is able to reveal the state of shock and emptiness (death) which seized Wiesel when he was only 14…

Do you know what happened? Beyond the showers? Beyond the pictures? Beyond the war? I thought I did but clearly didn’t and maybe the “why” is more important than the fact so why?
