The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

4.0

The first half of this book is quite slow and hard to get through, filled with infodump after infodump about a boring missing persons case that hasn't been solved for forty years. Once the halfway point is passed, it does start to pick up as we continue to learn more about a woman named Salander, who is a badass (though I dislike that the book refers to her as 'retarded' multiple times). One of my biggest gripes with this book is that I don't like the main characters, Mikael, much at all as he's a boring, flat middle aged man who every woman he meets wants to sleep with, for some reason. It would have been nice if this character had any personality or depth to him, but all he really does is go around sleeping with woman after woman. Will keep reading the series for Salander exclusively.

This book does also have various graphic scenes depicting very violent sexual assault, which I'm personally fine with but may be something other readers need to consider when going into this.
