I think this may have not been for me.
I thought the concept was intriguing and I also liked that it didn't feel like a translation at all, aside from some minor details, and read very smoothly.
Unfortunately, I think that it was a little too long winded for me and I felt confused a lot of the time. I did like Rika and Reiko but I just don't think I understood the point of this. I also just didn't enjoy the long descriptions of food, so I think this just wasn't for me, especially because it was written really well!
I enjoyed how Kajii was portrayed and really made me fall into her trap. I also enjoyed the beginning parts of the interview when Rika would discover all the different flavours that existed and expanded her mindset. Also... The part where Reiko went out on her own?? Made me feel SICK.
But yeah, I struggled a bit here.
