Real Queer America: LGBT Stories from Red States by Samantha Allen

adventurous hopeful informative inspiring lighthearted reflective medium-paced

4.5

Every person in America should read this book and reflect on how the legislature of a state does not always represent their citizens very well. LOVE the overarching theme of friendship and progress being what makes the South so special. LGBT+ 'utopias' like LA and NYC don't have the bond of a constant fight, and some people have gotten complacent. Leaves off with a good warning for Atlanta to not fall in that trend. Makes me wish I had a queer mentor/mentee program to be a part of.
