Sobek by Wren Snow

3.25

Not the worst book that I have read but it did not give me pleasure.
I did not feel the connection between the characters and I did not love the switch form normal to Stockholm syndrome .
This is a dark read: Sobek helds captive Matteo, treatens him, rapes him, punishes him and humiliates him. So the hero is a villain and there is zero redemption. If you don't like to read about abusive relationships don't read this. If you like those extremely fucked up relationship I have to say this book wasn't that emotional or hot for me. (It was not so gruesome to shock me nor one bit romantic)

Readable but it left me with nothing. Emotional blankness.

Btw I had hoped that Sobek would have been a real god but alas, he was a human psycho.

The scenes that made me more unconfortable were: Matteo's forced blindness and Sobek making Matteo hurt himself. (In this book there are not these elements but to put this into perspective: body horror, body modification and in general not having bodily authonomy are some of my triggers). On the other hand past abuse, murders and rape did not move me. Not because they are not terrible crimes but they were not described in a way that made me care.
