The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

5.0

“Everything’s a game, Avery Grambs. The only thing we get to decide in this life is if we play to win.”

I am so late to this train, but I am here for it, nonetheless!!

The plot?
Beautiful
The characters?
Amazing
The twists and turns?
Outstanding

Honestly this book only took me so long to read because life got in the way - but when I was reading I found it so difficult to put it down. I fell in love with the characters, I fell in love with the hidden clues, and I fell in love with both Brothers Hawthorne. I have to say though, I am 1000% Team Grayson.

And honestly, FUCK EMILY BRO. "It's what Emily would have wanted," bro I could not give two shits about what Emily would have wanted. I feel like Karma hit the right person because she is seriously one of the most toxic and selfish characters I have ever come across. And they were all in love with her??? No sir, that was not the character for me.

But enough of that rant - I want to talk about Grayson for a minute. Tbh I hated him initially.
"Let's assume for the moment, that I know everything."
C'mon dude, get that out of hereeeee. What even was that line?! I was CACKLING.
But as the story progressed and we got to see more of Grayson's feelings towards his family and towards Avery, I found myself falling for him (hot girl down, I repeat, HOT GIRL DOWN).

And seriously, I'm all for the brooding bad-boy brother trope and Jameson definitely fits that vibe, but there's just something about Grayson being in pain and literally GIVING UP a chance with Miss Avery because he "sees how Jameson looks at her" that just gets my gears going.

“He left you the fortune, Avery, and all he left us is you.”

All in all, this is definitely a 5 star read for me and I will be picking up the next book in the trilogy, ASAP.
