The Other Side of Night by Adam Hamdy

This is one of those instances where a book being wrongly labeled hurts it. I’ve seen it billed as a mystery/thriller, and it’s far from a thriller. There is a mystery, but there is also a sci-fi aspect. I think this should be more widely advertised so people have a better idea of what to expect. I didn’t know it was sci-fi until a friend I was buddy reading with guessed it! And even then, I didn’t know for sure til the revelation in the story. I think I might have had a higher rating had I know.  I would have gone in with different expectations.

That said, I really enjoyed this. I love a good English mystery. I felt from the prologue that it had a very Neil Gaiman feel to it. Add in the sci-fi twist, and I definitely feel that even more!

This is a medium paced mystery that hit the spot. Recommend.
