Exes and O's by Amy Lea
1.0
Exes and Os by Amy Leah is the second installment in the influencer series. I was quite excited to read this one in particular since the main character in this book is a book influencer just like me. Being represented in the books especially even the mere mention of bookstagrammers or book tokers is so so rare thing that the moment I read the synopsis, I skipped the first part and jumped to the second book only to be left disappointed.
Tara Chen, a bookstagrammer, and a book toker shares her profound love for romance books through videos and on her social media channel, but the love in her real life is not that high, to give you a shred of evidence, she was dumped by her exes cause she was clingy number 10. Her most recent breakup, with her fiance, was devastating. Exhausted by modern dating & worn-out to invest in someone new, Tara decides to rekindle with her exes to reignite the lost love that hopefully ends with a second chance romance trope.
Trevor Metcalfe, Tara's roommate, a firefighter, tattooed young broody man, who doesn't want Tara to be friends with her nightstand, does not open up much about his life and definitely not so an open book offers to be her wingman to rekindle the love and reconnect Tara with her exes.
What was mostly lacking in this romance book... romance! The lack of character development, plot, and maturity in FMC was what pulled this book down. There was no chemistry between the FMC and MMC.
Trevor was introduced to readers, naked, doing it with another woman, which could be funny whatsoever but he was screwing other women around throughout the book, he is talking to other women, one night stand leaving his room in the morning, flirting with waitress, etc... There was this point in the book where I was not even rooting for Trevor anymore.
Single Pov, nope, didn't work out. I was so tired of FMC's immaturity and MMC acting strange, out of the blue that single pov didn't work out I did not connect with Tara but understanding Trevor was so out of the question because he did not share things easily, is happy at one point but so closed up the other moment (mood swings no)
overall, did not enjoy it, but rather loathe the character and hate that this book merely exists and I spent my good sweet sweet weekend on this!!!! Skip it
