Wellspring of Magic by Jan Fields
5.0
This was one of my favorite books as a child . . .
I had received it in the mail out of no where when I was about nine years old. I devoured it within a few days -- a pretty huge accomplishment for a little kid with an early bedtime and a lot of homework.
Unfortunately, I don't remember much about it these days, but I remember donating it to the library at my school . . . I think I did, at least. Anyway, I don't know where it is now, but I don't have it anymore.
One day at school, a few of my friends and I were talking about our favorite childhood chapter books, and I tried to mention this one, but I couldn't remember the title. So I started explaining the basic storyline and about how I thought it was strange that I got it in the mail, and I saw my friend's eyes light up like a thousand suns. She got the book too! And so did all my other friends. One of my friends even said "Man, I thought I was the only one!" when we asked her if she ever got such a book in the mail.
I can't really rate the story anymore based on the lack of memory I have, but right about now I only have positive feelings towards it for bringing my friends and I closer together with a similar, albeit ind of odd, childhood memory.
