Brown Girls by Daphne Palasi Andreades

4.0

This book is gorgeous. So poetically written that when I listened to it, it almost sounded like a novel in verse. I loved the collective "we" as the narrator. It forged a bond with the reader from the first page.

At times, I struggled to follow exactly who was being talked about in a vignette but then, that's the point. The book isn't about any one person. It's about the collective experience that all brown women have.

This book isn't letting anyone tell it how it should be written or how it should sound and I loved it.
