“I myself love that house there with the wooden shutters. I love tea. I love you, and your smile, and the way you sigh in your sleep. See, common. Unconcerning. We are still enemies.”
This series is so silly and fun and boy do I have a good time with it. I definitely think I vibed with this sequel more than the first in the series, which may be in part due to how much I connected with the Jane Austen loving Charlotte. But also in part with how attractive I found Alex as a love interest (I really loved him in the first book too).
The writing is silly, the humour is fun, and the plot is ridiculous - and all that works. What more can you ask from a series with pirates piloting flying houses and witches launching passive aggressive warfare with tea. This was light and charming. A fun read all round, which is exactly what you want from a story like this.
