Glittering Death: An Alyssa Chalmers mystery by Carmen Radtke
4.0
Glittering Death is the follow on to The Case Of The Missing Bride. It does read as a stand alone though if you haven’t had the pleasure of reading it.
Alyssa and the brides have finally reached their destination and given a warm welcome. It’s all quite an exciting time with endless opportunities for many of them. That is before there is a murder which leaves the town in turmoil.
Alyssa is a likeable protagonist who is quite forward thinking for a woman in her times. As in the last book, she takes it upon herself to find the murderer.
You really get a sense of what life was like in the era that the story is set. It’s nice to be transported back in time. It was also good to catch back up with the characters to see what the future has in store for them after getting to know them in the previous novel. I was definitely intrigued as to the bit of romance surrounding Alyssa.
Glittering Death is a cozy mystery set at a gentle pace that quickly draws you in. There is a nice build up of suspense as to who the killer is and I didn’t see it coming as to who it could be, so was a good surprise. A good historical crime novel.
My thanks to Jill Burkinshaw at Books ‘n’ All Promotions for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.
