This prequel is a very fast read and gives a brief insight into Evo's rise to alpha of the Cloven pack. We also get a glimpse into Kelsey and Jeremy's relationship, but the book is really too short to connect with the characters. Having read the first book in the series, I found it interesting to see what brought Evo back to challenge his father, but I was left feeling like something was missing. Overall, I suppose the book does serve its purpose, but, in my opinion, the story needed a bit more development to fully capture a reader's attention.
