I really liked the parts of the book that talked about the war. I felt they were unflinching in their portrayal of what WWI was like in Italy. I didn't find the dialogue between the 2 main characters realistic. The latter part of the book had a good amount of tension. The actions and attitudes of the soldiers were very believable
Graphic: Death, Medical trauma, and Injury/Injury detail
Moderate: Sexism
