I had started this one previously, but something continued to keep me from reading it, even though I was enjoying it. The second time around, I started from the beginning and literally couldn’t stop!
In true Jessica Goodman fashion, this book pulled me in immediately. There is so much mystery and intrigue from the get go, all surrounding this big secret that our protagonist, Goldie is holding close to her chest, one that made her a pariah in her own town of Roxwood. She is a townie, meaning that every summer, when all the elites come to camp, she is the only local.
But, no matter what, she has Camp Alpine, and she has her two best friends, Imogen and Ava, fellow camp lifers. Every year for a VERY long time, the three have picked up their friendship like no time has passed, but she doesn’t know how to tell them her secret.
Something is different at camp this summer, though… something she can’t quite put her finger on. When someone from Roxwood ends up dead on camp property, Goldie knows there is even more going on than she could have imagined. Who does she turn to? Does she come clean to her besties, or are they hiding secrets, too?
This was like cat nip! I ate it up!! I loved Goldie and the bond she shared with Ava and Imogen. The feel of this book is very summer camp nostalgic and it put me in a whole vibe. Loved it!
