For my first fantasy novel in a long time this was a fun and easy read. The romance plot was a bit tropey at times, but nonetheless the world-building made this forgivable. It was hard to get into at first but started to pique my interest more as the first few chapters finally completed the setup. Not the most deep or original in sone of the plot this is kind of like Beauty and the Beast in some ways between the whole curse thing with a trapped girl to love him, a whole court of people under this curse too, and the library/painting gallery gift but again, the world building saved this for me. I’m interested enough to read the next book.
