Dogs of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky

5.0

I received this as a gift. Although I enjoy reading science fiction, I don't think I would have bought it for myself. That would have been a mistake!

Based on the publisher's description, I was expecting something militaristic, and not particularly thought provoking. It starts out that way, but quickly develops into something much more interesting as the scope expands beyond the initial conflict in Campeche.

Readable, thought-provoking, and mostly filled with interesting characters (one unfortunate exception being the main antagonist, but in the context of the story I don't feel that was a big drawback). Overall, thoroughly recommended. I will be reading more by this author.
