Sorcerer to the Crown by Zen Cho
4.0
I liked this book. It's a grand tale, following Zacharias, the Sorcerer Royal of Britain, and a woman named Prunella Gentlemen, who is also magically inclined. Without giving anything away, I will tell you that the plot is very exciting, with few dull moments.
The characters are all pretty good, and Zacharias was my favorite. I didn't like Prunella all the time, as I thought she could have been a bit more studious, but I admired her cunning and deviousness, along with her utter disregard for propriety at times. I didn't really expect her to be how she was, and when I wrapped my head around it, I quite liked it. Lady Wythe was awesome, and I really liked her.
I liked how Zacharias and Sir Stephen had to work through the problems they didn't face in life, and it's definitely something children tend to face with parental figures. It was a step Zacharias needed. Speaking of that sort of thing, the plot had several shocking twists and turns, and the one at the end was a real doozy! It was fabulous. 4.5 stars. Do yourself a favor and go read this book!
