This is hands-down my favorite installment in the Earthsea Cycle. This story sees the world of Earthsea through the lens of the poor, the elderly, the women, the downtrodden. Even Ged, who was once the mighty heroic mage, comes into the story broken and lost. This story looks at another side of Earthsea. It was powerful and heart-wrenching. If you are misogynistic, however, you will probably not like it as it does not fulfill any male power fantasies. Buh-bye.
