Well that was awkward by Megan Montgomery
Did not finish book. Stopped at 17%.
This book was... not it. I usually give a book more of a chance but I was already hating this one... so that's awkward.
The main character is so unlikeable. She's judgemental and even though she's supposed to be 33, she acts like she's 15. Who runs their own business at 33 and doesn't answer the phone for their shop because they're "introverted?" Just no.
I want to rant so hard about the monologue that she went on about how she couldn't date a guy who works in IT because to her they are all the same and just play WoW - it would never work for a Jane Austen fan like her because Mr. Darcy would never be found working in IT!!! Cue my massive eye roll because that is actually used in adaptations. And honestly I'm a little offended for myself - because I work in IT - and for the many guys I work with - most of whom are really nice guys who aren't even gamers.
And after allllll that, the guy she ends up on a date with is a fighter pilot in the navy. So... unnecessary.
I digress. The true reason I dnfed this book, the real kicker. That this supposedly fully tattooed woman, with a full sleeve, finds it endearing and the thing that truly pulls her to this guy when he touches a spot on her arm that isn't tattooed - and she calls that part of her skin the true her, "unfiltered and pure." Excuse me??? That sounds like some bullshit a religious person would spew at me because of my tattoos. I love my tattoos - they are a huge part of who I am. My skin that is not tattooed is not any different to me. And sure, I don't have a lot of tattoos but I imagine all of my friends who are tattooed would agree.
Anyways. Can't say I recommend this book but it's out there for someone to enjoy!
Can't add any content warnings because I was definitely not far enough for that.
