Inheritance by Christopher Paolini

5.0

Okay, first off...page 814: Raxacori.......cofallapatorius?! (Did anyone else think this was an obvious hint that Paolini is a Whovian, cause that was awesome lol.)

There were a few things I felt got dropped (namely, who - and possibly what - Angela really is, and the importance of the mark Saphira gave Elva, which ended up not being important at all, which was odd).

But, otherwise, I couldn't have been happier with Inheritance. The resolution was incredibly inventive. Just when it seemed like there was NO WAY POSSIBLE at all for Eragon to succeed, he found a way that I never would have thought of. All in all, it was fantastic writing. And the ending, while highly reminiscent of the end of Lord of the Rings (
SpoilerEragon leaves forever, just as Frodo left forever, though he's leaving for a slightly different reason
), was still uniquely satisfying in that heartbreaking-yet-happy sort of way that you can't help but love.

Past that, I feel like there's not much else I can add that I didn't already say in my review of Brisingr. So, I'll just end by saying that despite the rocky beginning, I'm glad I pushed through to Brisingr and Inheritance, because it was totally worth it. I'm sad to tell this world goodbye, which I didn't think would happen when I was reading Eldest. All in all, it was as series worth the acclaim.
