The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

5.0

5 stars. quite possibly the book that made the biggest personal impact on me in undergrad (which seems both like just yesterday and so far away now!). Gatsby as a character is so uniquely disastrous, the herald of his own destruction and somehow an icon for aspirational characters everywhere. the story is a tragedy and i love the classic allusions to the American dream that Fitzgerald is known for, but as a simple story on its own Gatsby's tale is equally as devastating as the comparison to America and its progress as a whole. a timeless classic that i'll never get tired of rereading.
