The idea behind this book, the promise of what it could be is the only thing that keeps me reading it. I feel like I have invested two books of time to a high potential story that keeps missing the mark.
The whole idea behind Havoc is that they were supposed to be incredibly powerful and yet they're all a bit rubbish at things. Incredibly slow at acting and so inefficient. Their oversights keep getting them in trouble and then it just resolves without much explanation as to why it resolves.
There's a lot of plot holes. Requirement for suspension of disbelief is unreasonably high. The spice also seems to be a little bit lacking. It's the definition of a dark romance so the characters are supposed to be hard to mine but it's Bernie that drives me the most insane. It's all very surface level.
This book was slightly better because I do like Aaron and Bernie. And there was some apologies although truthfully I didn't think any of them deserved it. I'm not invested in any of the characters I guess what keeps me reading is the promise that it may, at some point, get good. I'm deep into sunken cost.
Edit: DNF'd the series. I promise it doesn't get better.
