October Mourning: A Song for Matthew Shepard by Lesléa Newman

5.0

What set this book apart for me were the poems from the POV of inanimate objects and a pet, because when we think of a tragedy, our thoughts go immediately to the family and friends, and no one ever stops to think about how it scars everyone who comes in contact with it... Indeed, a whole town can be shaken by it and the least we must do then is to use such a moment to wake people up to the effects and worst iterations of their prejudice.
