Shadow Prowler by Alexey Pehov

4.0

I wasn't sure about this book at first. It's translated from Russian, and I'm not sure if that's why the humor wasn't coming across favorably to me. (Also, WHY would they change a thief's name from Garrett to Harold??) Then I reached page 100, suddenly I was hooked. Something changed in the writing, Harold stopped making weird little asides all of the time, and there was tons of action, and visual descriptions and lore that all came together. Looking forward to reading the next two books.

This books has a lot of fantasy cliches, but they're well done cliches, and I didn't mind them at all.
