The Road to Unfreedom: Russia, Europe, America by Timothy Snyder

4.0

A good and informational book on Ukraine and Russia's political development, especially in the 20th and 21st centuries. Some portions are a little lengthy, and if you're caught up with the crimes of Donald Trump and his cronies the last chapter isn't new news. I think the best parts are his explanation of the politics of inevitability and the politics of eternity, which can affect all political ideologies. He presents history-imperfect and nuanced-as a middle way to guide us into the future. I do wish this idea was expanded on a bit more, but the book is still good nonetheless. Overall it's a good book on an important subject!
