Fireworks Every Night by Beth Raymer

5.0

This story me simultaneously sad and ridiculously relieved that I didn't end up going to college in Florida. I listened to an interview with the author and they talked about how the location of Florida was a character in the book - to me that sums up the writing beautifully. I was so invested in each human character as well as the surrounding landscape and seeing how they affect each other. Such a beautiful book which forced me to confront a lot of issues and see how my opinion is affected by my upbringing. Each character felt so real and I could empathize with every page of the book. I think it helped me grow as a person and I felt so profoundly grateful for my life at the end of it. I woke up at 6:30am on this Saturday to finish the book - I was too tired to finish the night before and wanted to savor it. Soooo good I would recommend to anyone I flew through it!!
