first, we make the beast beautiful: A New Story About Anxiety by Sarah Wilson

I found this book to be super insightful and informative when it came to explaining anxiety and all that’s comes with it !
As with all books like this, and as Sarah Wilson herself mentions serval times throughout, you mustn’t take what is said as ‘gospel’, but merely as one women’s experience with anxiety and what has worked for her.

I really loved the idea that in order to fully combat anxiety, one must understand it and all it’s complexities. Oh, the complexities ! Not always understood by those Wilson calls “life naturals” (I love this description), anxious people come in all shapes and sizes and all have their own unique quirks and intricacies that make it hard to fully grasp. By “making the beast (anxiety) beautiful”, that is to understand your anxiety, then you demystify it.

Though heavy at times on scientific concepts and the like, it is very clear that Sarah Wilson has research this topic very thoroughly, drawing from professionals in many fields as well as her own life experiences.

A very useful book!
