Enemies With Benefits by Roxie Noir

4.0

4/5🌶️, MF, CR, romcom, past high school nemesis, workplace, standalone, part of a series, Kobo ebook (freebie)

This was a fun book full of banter and found family aspects. This book is about two past school rivals who now have to work together and eventually for a friends with benefits relationship. The common enemy and side plots were a bit gimmicky and slapstick comedy, very typical romcom stuff, but where this book shined was in the couple’s relationship. Both characters were fully fleshed out, had lives and friends. I liked their progression from irritation to admiration to infatuation, how teasing and competition went from annoyance to foreplay. Plus the sexual scenes were great. Not only were they hot and fun but balanced, no one character was ever fully dominant and both talked dirty. I really like when both parties are fully into sex and both give and take equally. The MMC didn’t say “you’re mine” instead he said “tell me I’m yours”, which I found especially romantic (and refreshing). I think I’m a fan of Roxie Noir’s writing now, and can’t wait to read more.
