Frankenstein: The 1818 Text by Mary Shelley

5.0

Considered the first horror novel by many, this is really more of an eternal tragedy and certainly helped me to understand that horror, for me, IS tragedy.
We read classics today because they are still relevant, and this relatively short book is packed with philosophy on ego, mastery of nature, ourselves as gods, worship of science without morality, what we owe to society, and what society owes us. Shelley framed this story in such a way that it will appeal to anyone, and you will read it wanting to know just as much about her as her creations.
